The story of Hatten Wines began in 1992, when the vision to create world-class wines from Bali first took shape. Two years later, in 1994, that vision became reality with the launch of our first (and at the time) only product: Hatten Rosé. Made from locally grown grapes, it captured the vibrant spirit of the island and marked a new chapter in Indonesia’s wine history.
What started as a single wine has since grown into a collection of 10 distinctive variants, each crafted with dedication to quality and a deep respect for Bali’s unique terroir. Our vineyards have expanded from 11 hectares in Sanggalangit, North Bali, to 60 hectares today, with 12 hectares devoted to research and development, a commitment that drives our passion for innovation and pushes the boundaries of tropical winemaking. A legacy built on passion, craftsmanship, and the belief that Bali can produce wines to rival the world’s best.
Our journey has been recognized globally with numerous international accolades. In 2011, our founder, Ida Bagus Rai Budarsa, received the Southeast Asia Wine Pioneer Award for his groundbreaking role in the region’s wine industry. In 2017, Hatten Wines was named Winery of the Year, surpassing more than 300 wines from over 100 vineyards across nine Asian countries, and also earned the Best Trophy Winner Award from the Asian Wine Review. These honors, awarded through blind tastings, affirm the exceptional quality, complexity, and balance that define our wines.
