The AWC Vienna Summer Tasting is no ordinary wine competition. It’s the world’s largest officially recognized contest, where more than 5,300 wines from 41 countries are tasted blindly by sommeliers, oenologists, wine journalists, and industry experts. This year our favorite local wine brand, Two Islands Reserve proudly brought home a collection of medals from the competition, showing the world that Bali’s wine scene can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best.
If you haven’t tried it yet, take this as your sign. Discover our guide to these award-winning wines here.
Shiraz – Gold Medal
Big, bold, and unapologetically flavorful. This Shiraz is packed with ripe berry fruit and spice, the kind of wine that warms you from the inside out. After 18 months in French oak, it’s smooth yet powerful. Enjoy it during a sunset BBQ in Seminyak or a lively night out in Canggu. It’s a best companion for steak and chimichurri, or roasted ratatouille
Blanc de Blancs – Silver Medal
The sparkling star of the lineup. Made from 100% Chardonnay and crafted with the traditional Champagne method, this bubbly is crisp and elegant. Two years of aging on lees give it depth, while the fine bubbles keep it fresh and lively. It’s a perfect celebration partner for a beachside toast in Sanur, or to kick off a romantic dinner under the stars. Pair it with fresh oysters, light canapés, or just pop it open as an aperitif.
Cabernet Sauvignon – Silver Medal
This Cabernet Sauvignon is structured and savory with a juicy side. Aged 18 months in oak, it’s complex but still easy enough to enjoy without overthinking. Imagine having a day trip exploring Ubud’s rice terraces, when you want something grounding and soulful. Pair this wine with rack of lamb, braised short ribs, or even a bitter chocolate tart.
Chardonnay – Seal of Approval
If you’re into whites, this one is a crowd-pleaser. Creamy yet fresh, textured but not too heavy, it’s the kind of wine that plays well with almost any dish. Made with barrel fermentation and aged on lees for nearly a year, it’s got that extra touch of complexity. It’s a perfect pair for a seafood lunch in Jimbaran, or while chilling poolside on a sunny afternoon. Try it with cheese boards, roast chicken, seafood, or even a simple salad.
These medals aren’t just awards, they’re a testament to the craftsmanship, passion, and vision that go into every bottle. So whether you’re celebrating a big milestone or simply savoring a quiet moment, reach for an award-winning Two Islands Reserve. After all, the medals don’t lie.
