InterContinental Bali Resort is honoured to serve as the official host venue for the prestigious 12th Asian OWS Championship and A-STREAM OWS Series 2026, Indonesia’s homegrown open water swimming event, taking place from 13–15 June 2026 along the coastline of Jimbaran Bay, Bali.
Following the successful hosting of the Southeast Asian Open Water Swimming Championship in 2024, Bali has once again been selected as the destination for one of Asia’s most distinguished aquatic sporting events. Organized under Asia Aquatics, formerly known as the Asian Swimming Federation (AASF), the championship will welcome athletes representing 45 national member federations from across the region.
Over the course of three days, the event is expected to attract approximately 750 participants, including elite athletes, delegates, masters and junior swimmers, alongside families, supporters, and international visitors, creating a vibrant celebration of sport, wellness, and cultural connection. The Asian Open Water Swimming Championship has previously been hosted in renowned destinations including Kuwait City, Doha, Hong Kong, Muscat, Samarkand, and Bali in 2008.
The General Manager of InterContinental Bali Resort, Bruno Cristol, shared: “We are proud to host the 12th Asian Open Water Swimming Championship and A-STREAM. This milestone event reflects our continued commitment to positioning Jimbaran and Bali as leading destinations for wellness and sports tourism. Beyond the competition, we look forward to welcoming athletes and visitors to experience the island’s rich culture, genuine hospitality, and the restorative beauty of Jimbaran Bay.”
“Open water swimming continues to grow across Asia. This year, the championship brings together 76 athletes from 17 Asian countries, while around 300 age-group swimmers are taking part in the ASTREAM Open Water Swimming Series, which gives recreational swimmers, first-timers, and enthusiasts the opportunity to experience the excitement of open water swimming. Together, these events show how sport can bring people together, promote healthy living, support tourism, and connect elite athletes with the wider community,” said Kiki Taher, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 12th Asian Open Water Swimming Championship 2026 and ASTREAM Open Water Swimming Series.
Set against the serene coastline of Jimbaran, the championship promises not only world-class competition standards, but also immersive experiences that blend sport, wellbeing, culinary offerings, and destination discovery within one of Bali’s most iconic beachfront settings.
Through this international sporting event, InterContinental Bali Resort continues to strengthen its vision of supporting meaningful travel experiences while contributing to Bali’s growing reputation as a premier destination for global wellness and sporting events.
