Padma Resort Legian presents the Bali-born, internationally-acclaimed jazz pianist, Joey Alexander in concert performing as a musical trio, Joey Alexander & Friends. Tickets are now for sale online for the limited two-night Bali engagement on Friday and Saturday, 15 & 16 September 2023, at the Plumeria Grand Ballroom, Padma Resort Legian, Bali.
Born in Bali 20 years ago, Joey’s prodigious talent was evident from a very young age prompting his parents to relocate to the U.S.A. when their son was only 11 years of age. In the USA, Joey enjoyed the mentorship and guidance of jazz greats like Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, Allen Morrison of DownBeat Magazine and, for a period, was sponsored by the widow of tennis legend Arthur Ashe who allowed Joey’s family to stay at her estate in Alpine, New Jersey.
Joey is the first Indonesian to chart on Billboard’s Top 200 and to be thrice-nominated for a Grammy Award. During the past nine years in the USA, Joey has recorded six highly-acclaimed albums. Joey continues to enjoy the respect of global audiences and fellow musicians, leaving them spellbound at esteemed Jazz Festivals across the globe — from Odessa to Montreal, Newport to Copenhagen, Montreux to Detroit, Mackinac Island to the Juilliard School of Music, and from New Orleans to Jakarta. Moreover, Joey’s extraordinary talent has graced The US White House through his performance for President Obama, played for a global television audience live from Lincoln Center, and “wowed” a sold-out engagement at Carnegie Hall.
